Volunteer Job Descriptions
Accommodations
Assist with the reception of athletes and officials as they check-in to their assigned accommodation at Deerhurst.
Sport Venue
Assist with the set-up and take-down of equipment at each of the sport venues. Be on-site during the games to assist with moving equipment, general clean-up, and support the venue coordinator.
Food Services
Deliver meals to venues and supervise and maintain the respective food service dining areas.
Language Services
Provide interpretation services in French and English in print as well as on-site at venues, accommodations and registration locations.
Medals and Awards
Distribute the medals to the various venues for presentation by the games officials. Assist the games official with the presentation to the athletes.
Opening Ceremonies
Assist the open ceremonies coordinator with opening ceremony plans and delivery, including site preparation, athlete and officials arrival supervision, entertainment support, parking and transportation control, food and beverage services and equipment set up and take down.
Media and Promotions
Support the media and promotions chairperson with media release delivery, media kit assembly, and media relations on-site at venues and accommodations.
Medical Services
Assist the medical and security chairperson with venue medial services on-site at venues and accommodation locations. Standard first-aid certification would be required and duties would include supporting on-site emergency services personal.
Registration / Accreditation Desk
Assist with the registration of athletes and officials at numerous accommodations and venues. Work closely with the athlete registration chairperson to ensure athletes and officials are registered and checked in correctly.
Registration Kit Assembly
Assist the registration chairperson and the volunteer's chairperson with the assembly of the athlete and officials registration kits as well as the orientation kits for volunteers. Help deliver the kits to the necessary accommodations or venues and assist with their distribution.
Score Keeping/Results Tabulation/Minor Official
Support the sport technical chairperson with event score keeping, results tabulation and minor official functions at sport venues. Knowledge of the sport and experience in hosting competitions and accreditation with a recognized sporting agency or body would be advantageous.
Security
Assist the medical and security chairperson with security at venues and accommodations, that could include athlete supervision, volunteer clearance verification and spectator supervision and security.
Signage Coordination
Assist with the creation and the distribution and placement of various signage at venues and accommodations to help direct traffic flow of athletes, officials, volunteers and spectators.
Ticket Sales
Work with ticket sales chairperson on-site at the respective venues to sell admission bracelets. Provide front line guest services on site at venues.
Transportation
Assist the transportation and logistics chairperson with the coordination of transportation services for athletes and officials back and forth from accommodations to venues, as well as opening ceremony transportation coordination.
All volunteers will be required to participate in training events.
All volunteers will be required to work a minimum of two 4 hour shifts.
All volunteers will receive a meal coupon for every 4 hour shift.
All volunteers will receive a volunteer apparel.
